Habits like brushing the teeth, showering daily, making the bed all make life cleaner and more pleasant. Rituals of needing to do certain tasks in a particular order can simplify the task. Rituals of attendance to a house of worship, practice of yoga and meditation  or meeting can enlighten one and give a sense of calm. But if the ritual has become excessive and compulsive it is time to seek help.
