ADHD makes simple activities of daily life feel less than simple. Tips for managing these scattered and restless emotions are to make a daily list of just what needs to be done. Then there is no need to worry that something has been forgotten. You have it on your list and can cross it off once it is completed. This is an organization skill that is learned. Be sure not to attempt to accomplish too much. Make the list doable.Once you see what needs doing, break it down. Remember “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. For example if you assign one day a week for laundry. Another day for vacuuming, emptying the trash, another for some other domestic task. Same with work. Use the skill to prioritize and complete tasks. Set a chunk of time to devote to the task- when time is up stop and do something else. Be sure to allow enough time. Be realistic. You cannot cross the task off the list until complete. Contact Contemporary Care Centers to learn the skills and get support for mental wellness.
