Sleep Hygiene Are you a good sleeper or do you toss and turn without being able to rest and turn off your thoughts? Can you fall asleep but with in a few hours you wake up and are up for hours. Is your sleep invaded by frightening dreams and images? How do you rate your time of relaxation and rejuvenation? Sleep deprivation is used as a torture mechanism to break a person down- do not do that to yourself! Have several hours from when you have finished dinner until you go to bed. Practice a routine of preparing to sleep. Go to bed at the same time each night. Limit nighttime screen time. Be aware of TV shows that upset your thoughts- news or violent films. Do not watch the clock once you go to bed. Set the alarm for the morning. Too much alcohol, very spicy food, sugar or caffeine adds blocks to getting a good nights sleep. Take control.
